Product Manager

The Product Manager will initially work directly under the CEO, as well as collaborate with the engineering and marketing teams. The Product Manager will be responsible for Box.net's continued success as a web 2.0 innovator and leading web file storage and collaboration platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the long term product road map
  • Find gaps in current features, improve upon usability and functionality
  • Ensure quality product releases and updates
  • Plan development and product strategies on third party platforms (Facebook, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Plan product launches and closely coordinate with Box marketing team for customer acquisition and retention
  • Plan and conduct regular usability sessions, incorporating user feedback into the product

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of Product Management experience at an internet company
  • Experience writing product requirements documents (PRDs)
  • Experience creating product design documents such as flowcharts, wireframes, and mockups
  • Experience leading usability sessions with customers a must
  • Work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communicator and leader
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

Software Engineer (Backend Guru)

To serve millions of unique users every week, we have several dozen servers and manage over 100 terabytes of raw storage. We're growing rapidly and you'll be on the front lines as we expand to multiple datacenters, hundreds of servers, dozens of developers and more. You'll be our "backend guru," tasked with designing and executing projects to implement and optimize our backend PHP architecture.

Extensive experience with web development frameworks and web site architecture is an absolute must, along with a vigilant thirst to learn new technologies, methods and techniques. Experience with PHP is preferred.

Sample projects for this position:

  • Refactor a portion of the codebase towards a design pattern or a more proper MVC architecture
  • Implement a more advanced, robust upload method
  • Benchmark some of our most common requests and find and solve bottlenecks
  • Analyzing our MySQL queries and schema to ensure they are optimized
  • Test out new servers and technologies; play with some of the latest and greatest tech, like 8- and 16-core servers

Qualifications:

  • Engineering and operations experience with the LAMP stack (with P for PHP)
  • Solid understanding of OO software design principles and the MVC architecture
  • A passion for finding elegant solutions to complex problems

Web Developer

As a web developer at Box.net you'll regularly make significant contributions to the site. You'll architect and implement features using PHP and SQL on the backend, and Javascript, XHTML and CSS on the front end. You should know MVC and keep up with the latest technologies and techniques. You'll work closely with other developers, product design and marketing to engineer the best product. Most importantly, you'll have real responsibilities and real projects in a collaborative, energetic environment.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Extensive experience programming the LAMP stack
  • Experience with large, highly object oriented codebases, and the ability to learn them quickly
  • Interested in and excited to solve complex problems in a sophisticated web application

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Ajax in large scale PHP applications
  • Experience using PHP4 and PHP5 OO implementations

Web Operations Engineer

Box.net is seeking a Web Operations Engineer to help with exciting technical challenges and a rapidly growing infrastructure. This position will play a key role in the company by supporting and enhancing the technology behind our online storage and sharing product. Responsibilities are diverse and include LAMP stack administration, network engineering, and on-site data center configuration.

Responsibilities:

Systems Support and Administration:

  • Maintain, support, and enhance Linux systems using configuration management tools
  • Improve logging, monitoring, and backup procedures
  • Identify and resolve network issues
  • Administer production storage
  • Carry a pager; respond to Operations incidents on rotation
  • Troubleshoot, install, and configure hardware on-site at data center

Systems Architecture and Enhancement:

  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance our architecture
  • Systematically identify and address single points of failure
  • Measure server/storage utilization for capacity planning
  • Assist in scaling our architecture into the multi-million users mark

Required Qualifications:

  • Quick learner, excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience troubleshooting, configuring, and administering Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP
  • Experience configuring and administering production network equipment including routers, switches, and SLBs
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with BGP a big plus
  • 2+ years at a similar position

Desktop Software Engineer

While Box.net is primarily a web-based application, you will be responsible for all engineering related to our desktop initiatives. These include developing and maintaining integrations into third-party software using Microsoft Office SDK, designing and building integrations into the Windows and Mac filesystems, as well as other future projects. You may also be expected to help with mobile initiatives such as Windows Mobile or Blackberry development.

You will work closely with product design, marketing, and other engineers to create the best possible products. Your work will reach millions of internet users and help continue Box.net's leadership as the web's filesystem, giving access to the desktop and other devices. This is a position with a high level of accountability and responsibility, so if you want a position where you're guaranteed to make an impact, this is it.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 2+ years programming C++/C# in a Windows environment; comfortable working around and with the Windows API
  • Extensive experience with end-to-end Windows product development process, from prototype to install packaging to auto-updates
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new SDK's and development environments

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Cocoa and Objective C in a Mac environment
  • Experience creating desktop clients to web based services
  • Experience with Java and/or PHP

Enterprise Sales Representative
