Aaron Levie
Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer Aaron Levie is the CEO and co-founder of Box.net, a leading provider of tools for managing and sharing data online . Founded as a college business project with a vision giving people instant access to their information, anywhere, Box.net was launched from Aaron's dorm room in 2005 with the help of CFO, Dylan Smith. Aaron is originally from Mercer Island, WA, and studied entrepreneurship for two and a half years at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. At Box, Aaron is currently responsible for product and platform strategy and design. In 2006, after raising a round of venture capital from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Aaron moved the company to Palo Alto.
Dylan Smith
Co-founder & Chief Financial Officer Dylan Smith is the Chief Financial Officer and co-founder at Box.net, where he leads finance, accounting, and human resource operations. Starting Box.net with co-founder Aaron Levie while in college, Dylan has been instrumental in the company's growth and development since its inception. Dylan attended Duke University for two years before moving to Palo Alto, California to work full-time at Box.net. While he continues his current CFO duties, in the fall of 2007, Dylan returned to Duke University as an economics major to complete his degree.
Sam Ghods
Vice President of Engineering Sam Ghods is the Director of Engineering at Box.net, where he manages the engineering team and oversees the design and architecture of Box.net's website. Prior to joining Box.net, Sam was a developer at essembly.com, which is now part of Project Agape. Before essembly.com, Sam was the lead developer at zexsports.com, where he was responsible for development, server management and architecture.
Sam is also a classically trained violinist who began playing at the age of five. He has played with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras, the largest youth symphony organization in the United States, and studied at the Seattle Conservatory of Music.
Sam attended the University of Southern California, where he studied Computer Engineering and Computer Science for two years before joining Box.net in July 2006.
Jeff Queisser
Vice President of Operations Jeff Queisser is the Director of Operations at Box.net, where he is responsible for Box.net's core technology, architecture and infrastructure. He manages the systems, storage, and data center operations of Box.net. Jeff became interested in computer programming at a young age, selling his first software at the age of ten, and later formed Q-Squared, a successful IT consulting company based in Seattle. Jeff attended Western Washington University for a year and a half, where he was on the President's list for high academic achievement, before joining Box.net in April 2006.
Karen Appleton
Vice President of Business Development Karen Appleton is the Vice President of Business Development at Box.net, where she is responsible for driving Box.net's high growth initiatives. She initiates, evaluates and structures new business opportunities, including strategic alliances and partnerships, to build demand for Box.net.
Prior to Box.net, Karen was Vice President of Development and a member of the executive team at Prosper Marketplace and was responsible for a full range of growth activity including acquisition and retention and the development of ecosystem-based partnerships and alliances. Before Prosper, Karen was responsible for marketing, new client relationships, and growth initiatives for the largest private wealth management team at Citigroup/Smith Barney. As Director of Business Development at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, she built a team that worked to grow revenues and broaden existing and prospective client relationships. She also served as National Marketing Director for the corporate group at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, LLP. At Lexis-Nexis, she launched the firm's internet product, managed top-tier accounts and ran business development for the state of Hawaii.
Karen earned a master's degree in organizational development from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in international business from Towson University. She holds an advisory board seat with The Forum for Women Entrepreneurs & Executives, and serves on the marketing and membership committees for SV2.
Chad Heinrich
Vice President of Online Marketing Chad Heinrich is the Vice President of Online Marketing at Box.net, where he is responsible for driving Box.net's online consumer sales and product marketing efforts.
Chad has 11 years of direct marketing, sales, and advertising experience. He is a specialist in e-commerce, web acquisition, and website optimization, and has launched over 100 direct response search, banner, affiliate, radio, print, and television campaigns in his marketing experience.
Prior to joining Box.net, Chad was a consultant for high-tech companies such as Magellan, AT&T, Sandisk, and Computer Associates, where he was responsible for setting customer acquisition strategies and tactics. He has managed teams to achieve aggressive revenue targets with rapid growing, Internet security software brands such as ZoneAlarmR (Zone Labs, Inc) and Spyware Doctor TM (PC Tools, Inc). Chad also created popular online communities with JD Power's Consumer Car Club and sold executive productivity tools to Fortune 500 companies at Franklin Covey.
Chad holds a bachelor's degree in international relations, business and German from Brigham Young University.
Jim Herbold
Vice President of Sales and Enterprise General ManagerJim Herbold serves as Box.net's Enterprise General Manager, where he is responsible for managing the sales, product development, and marketing of the Box Enterprise product.
Jim has more than 14 years of experience in sales and operations. He joined Box.net from EmailLabs, now a part of Lyris, where he was the General Manager responsible for all facets of the business. Jim also held a variety of sales roles at EmailLabs, and in four years he grew revenues by more than 700% while maintaining a profit margin in excess of 30% each year. Prior to EmailLabs, Jim held sales and operations roles at AboveNet, National Computer Board (Singapore), Centennial Communications, and MCI.
Jim holds a bachelor's degree in geography and anthropology from Dartmouth College.
